Ontmoet de (inter)nationale jazz sector tijdens Jazz Brugge

Op zaterdag 18 november vindt er een sectormoment plaats in het kader van Jazz Brugge. Middenin het festival wordt er een namiddag tijd gemaakt voor netwerksessies en enkele inhoudelijke gesprekken. In de avond kan je dan weer aansluiten bij Jazz Brugge voor de Belgium Booms concerten van o.a. Vitja Pauwels, Echoes Of Zoo en meer!
KAAP, met de steun van VI.BE, Sabam For Culture, AMPLO en Concertgebouw Brugge, nodigt de Belgische jazzsector uit op zaterdag 18 november. Managers, boekers, programmatoren, labels, muzikanten en andere professionals krijgen zo de kans om met elkaar in gesprek te gaan rond het thema ‘internationaal (net)werken’.
Dat in Concertgebouw Brugge, waar de sfeer van Jazz Brugge dan volop in de lucht hangt. Als voortzetting van het internationaal bezoekersprogramma van de vroegere Belgian Jazz Meeting zijn er ook nu een 20-tal internationale professionals uitgenodigd die het hele weekend aanwezig zullen zijn om de Belgium Booms acts te ontdekken. Het ideale moment dus voor uitwisseling!
Programma
- 11u: Jazz Brugge – concert van Sanem Kalfa / Joachim Badenhorst / George Dumitriu (voor tickethouders)
- 13.30u: Ontvangst met koffie en thee
- 14u: Welkomstwoord door Lies Steppe (Klara, moderator van de dag) met aansluitend een keynote door Kim Macari (trompettiste, programmator Vortex London en activiste)
- 15u: Panelgesprek rond het opbouwen van een duurzaam internationaal traject met oa. Maaike Wuyts (Aubergine Artist Management), Lize Colson (VI.BE), Lucy Scott (Gateshead, Newcastle), Raluca Baicu (North Sea Around Town, Bird, De Doelen, Rotterdam), Wim Wabbes (Ha Concerts, EJN President), e.a.
- 16u: Keuze tussen twee gesprekstafels begeleid door AMPLO of Sabam
- 17u: Netwerkmoment met drankje
- 18u: Broodjesmaaltijd
- 19u: Start avondprogramma Jazz Brugge met o.a. Belgium Booms selectie Vitja Pauwels en Echoes of Zoo, maar ook James Brandon Lewis, Yazz Ahmed en Naïssam Jalal (voor tickethouders)

Inschrijven voor de sectordag en voor de concerten kan zolang de capaciteit toelaat en uiterlijk tot 31 oktober via deze link. Jazz Brugge professional program
The aim for this program is to enhance the international possibilities for the 5 curated Belgium Booms acts and, at large, the Belgian jazz scene. Belgium Booms at Jazz Brugge is a pilot project powered by KAAP, VI.BE, AMPLO, SABAM For Culture and Concertgebouw Brugge. We come together on Saturday 18 October at Concertgebouw for an international gathering.

- 14.00h Keynote: Kim Macari (UK, composer, musician, activist and curator a.o. The Vortex, London, circa 30 minutes)
Originally from Fife, Scotland and now based in London, Kim Macari is a musician and composer immersed in the jazz and improvised music scene. Whether as a performer, teacher or a producer, her passion lies in the strength of improvised music as a means of expression and a form of empowerment and freedom.
In her keynote, Macari will take us with her for a quick dive into the current UK jazz scene, what’s it like post-Brexit, what are the new characteristics/difficulties/opportunities? Where are the chances for Belgian bands, what are the peculiarities when you are touring in the UK? Are we as Belgians missing chances? Artistic development beyond jazz will also be touched upon. - 15.00h Expert conversation: how to build a lasting international career?

Moderator is Lies Steppe (Klara Jazz). The main question will be how to build a lasting international career, with after Kim Macari’s UK introduction, Bex Burch on the scene in her current hometown Berlin. Maaike Wuyts will share her insights. Lucy Scott will share some observations on how she perceives the current Belgian scene from her UK perspective. Lize Colson will give us an update on the ongoing VIBE internationalization research, and Wim Wabbes will share his knowledge on the matter and take us to 2024, when Gent will host the European Jazz Conference.
