In het kader van de samenwerking tussen Salon Arents (Musea Brugge) en KAAP waarin er op zoek wordt gegaan naar de blinde vlekken in collecties en waarin we met het publiek in interactie willen gaan over het museum van de toekomst, nodigen we curatoren duo Alice Ciresola en Simone Basani uit met het project JEANNE. Or the Western Touch rond de figuur van kunstverzamelaar Jeanne Walschot.
Workshops Am I Evil?
Na de lecture performance gaan de deelnemers aan de slag samen met schrijfster Els Moors, kunstenaar Roger Fähndrich, en curatoren Simone Basani en Alice Ciresola. Toegankelijk voor zowel Nederlandstaligen als anderstaligen.
- 21 en 22 januari 2023: 10u - 17u workshop Salon Arents
- februari - maart 2023: beoordeling van de teksten van de andere deelnemers (in deze maanden zal de groep een of twee keer informeel bijeenkomen, datum tbc)
- 1 en 2 april: 10u - 17u workshop Salon Arents
- april: definitief indienen teksten + redactie
Een individuele schrijfervaring wordt een gedeelde schrijfervaring.
DEELNEMEN
VOOR WIE
- Iedereen kan deelnemen vanaf 16 jaar.
Er wordt niet gediscrimineerd op basis van leeftijd, geslacht, huidskleur, cultuur, sociale achtergrond, religie, capaciteiten, seksuele geaardheid of genetische kenmerken.
Opgelet: Hoewel we erkennen dat vooroordelen en discriminatie diep verankerd zijn in het weefsel van onze samenleving zullen er geen opzettelijk vrouwenhatende, homo/transfobische en/of racistische standpunten worden toegestaan in de workshop. Am I Evil? is in de eerste plaats bedoeld als plek om problematische patronen te herkennen, te bevragen en aan te pakken, niet om ze te bekrachtigen.
HOE WERKT HET
- De workshop is gratis. In ruil daarvoor vragen we je om oprechte betrokkenheid en constante aanwezigheid in het proces.
- Je hoeft niet per se professionele ervaring te hebben met schrijven, maar je wil wel experimenteren en jezelf uitdagen op het brede terrein van (erotisch) schrijven.
- Je bent beschikbaar voor de vijfdaagse workshop (fysiek aanwezig), voor enkele revisiemomenten tussendoor en na afloop de tekst af te ronden.
- Je hebt een goede kennis van de geschreven Nederlandse of Engelse taal en je bent in staat om in het Engels te communiceren.
- Je kunt goed omgaan met seksueel en pornografisch taalgebruik en inhoud.
HOE INSCHRIJVEN?
Er is een beperkt aantal plaatsen in de workshop. We vragen dan ook om als volgt in te schrijven:
- Stuur een motivatiebrief (max 1 A4) naar de initiatiefnemers Simone Basani, Alice Ciresola, Els Moors en Roger Fähndrich waarin je vertelt waarom je graag mee zou willen doen aan de workshop. Zij zullen de (maximaal) tien deelnemers aan de workshop selecteren.
- Voeg in de brief een link/verwijzing toe naar een erotische scène uit literatuur of film waarin een personage volgens jou iets over zichzelf ontdekt. Gebruik a.u.b. de taal waarin je je het meest op je gemak voelt.

Indien het reizen van/naar Brugge een fysieke of financiële reële belemmering vormt voor je deelname, gelieve dit dan te vermelden in je brief. Wij zullen ons best doen om je te ondersteunen bij het vinden van accommodatie. - Opgelet, je schrijft je in voor alle data!

Am I Evil? van Roger Fähndrich is het tweede werk van JEANNE. Or the Western Touch, een performatieve kunstcollectie samengesteld door Simone Basani en Alice Ciresola.
JEANNE. Or the Western Touch is een curatorieel format geïnspireerd op de controversiële relatie die de Belgische kunstverzamelaar en -handelaar Jeanne Walschot onderhield met haar collectie Afrikaanse artefacten. JEANNE wil de Europese verlangens onderzoeken om de Ander en het Onbekende te ontmoeten, maar ook om ze te controleren, te bezitten en te exotiseren.

Workshop Am I Evil?
After the lecture performance, participants will get to work together with writer Els Moors, artist Roger Fähndrich, and curators Simone Basani and Alice Ciresola. These workshops are also accessible to non-Dutch speakers.

An individual writing experience becomes a shared writing experience.

FOR WHO
- Anyone can participate from the age of 16.
There will be no discrimination based on age, gender, colour, culture, social background, religion, ability, sexual orientation or genetic characteristics.
Please note: While we recognise that prejudice and discrimination are deeply embedded in the fabric of our society, no intentionally misogynist, homophobic/transphobic and/or racist views will be allowed in the workshop. Am I Evil? is intended primarily as a place to recognise, question and address problematic patterns, not to empower them.
HOW IT WORKS
- The workshop is free of charge. In return, we ask for your sincere commitment and constant presence in the process.
- You do not necessarily need to have professional experience in writing, but you do want to experiment and challenge yourself in the broad field of (erotic) writing.
- You are available for the five-day workshop (physically present), for some revision moments in between and to finalise the text after the event.
- You have a good knowledge of the written Dutch or English language and are able to communicate in English.
- You can deal well with sexual and pornographic language and content.
HOW TO APPLY?
There is a limited number of places in the workshop. We therefore ask you to register as follows:
- Send a motivation letter (max 1 A4) to the initiators Simone Basani, Alice Ciresola, Els Moors and Roger Fähndrich telling why you would like to participate in the workshop. They will select the (maximum) ten workshop participants.
- In the letter, include a link/reference to an erotic scene from literature or film in which you think a character discovers something about themselves. Please use the language in which you feel most comfortable.
- Mind that you are participating at all days of the workshop.

ABOUT
JEANNE. Or the Western Touch is a curatorial format inspired by the controversial relationship Belgian art collector and dealer Jeanne Walschot maintained with her collection of African artefacts. JEANNE aims to explore European desires to meet the Other and the Unknown, but also to control, possess and exoticise them.
