Dé naam om in de gaten te houden is zonder twijfel Fuensanta (MX). De Mexicaanse bassiste heeft alles om de next big thing in jazz te worden: uniciteit, virtuositeit en de superpower om een heel breed publiek te boeien.

19:00 Ola Tunji
Ola Tunji is een relatief jong quartet van in Brussel wonende Franse conservatoriumstudenten. Ze verkennen samen de grenzen van spirituele jazz en free jazz naar het voorbeeld van hun grote helden John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler, … Op het voorplan staat de nog steeds maar 24 jarige Ornella Noulet, die haar sax tegelijk kan laten schuren en zalven als een volleerd jazz veteraan.
Hun muziek omschrijven ze zelf als gezamenlijke meditaties, waarin ze via improvisatie uiting geven aan liefde, medeleven, vreugde en sereniteit. Al musicerend gaan ze samen op zoek naar een diepere menselijkheid. Eind vorig jaar brachten ze hun eerste ongetitelde debuut EP digitaal uit op Bandcamp. Deze werd meteen internationaal opgepikt door onder meer het Canadese One Man’s Jazz, het Amerikaanse All About Jazz en werd door Bandcamp zelf eveneens als highlight naar voor geschoven.
Op dit moment zijn ze volop aan het werken aan een debuutplaat, die in het voorjaar van 2026 officieel zal verschijnen bij W.E.R.F. records. Jij kan alvast bevoorrechte getuige zijn van dit nieuwe materiaal, dat ze tijdens Jazz Brugge live zullen brengen.
20:00 Brahja Trio
Sinds 2008 - in al zijn verschillende gedaantes - maakt Brahja zijn eigen, bijzondere vorm van avant-garde en spirituele jazz. Al meer dan anderhalf decennium ontwikkelt de groep een unieke sound die zijn wortels heeft in de jazzscènes van New York en Montréal, maar waarvan de vertakkingen zich veel verder uitstrekken.
Oprichter, bandleider, saxofonist en multi-instrumentalist Devin Brahja Waldman, een vaste waarde binnen de iconische downtown New York jazzscene, bracht muzikanten samen van buiten die stad om zijn muzikale visie vorm te geven.
Voor Jazz Brugge steekt het collectief de Atlantische Oceaan over en transformeert het tot een trio met Georgia Wartel Collins en Joakim Heibø Johansen, waarin ook invloeden uit de Noordse jazzscene doorklinken.
20:00 Lagon Nwar
Lagon Nwar is een uniek Frans ‘etno jazz’ collectief dat intensiteit, diversiteit en poëtische diepgang samenbrengt. Gedreven door saxofonist Quentin Biardeau en bassist Valentin Ceccaldi - bekend van Le Tricollectif - nodigt dit viertal uit tot een muzikale reis doorheen verschillende culturen. Vooraan op het podium staat de charismatische zangeres Ann O’Aro. Ze groeide op in La Réunion en in haar muziek vermengt ze de stuwende energie van maloya - de plaatselijke muziekstijl - met snedige en activistische teksten in het Creools en het Frans. Het viertal wordt vervolledigd met Marcel Balboné, percussionist en zanger uit Burkina Faso. Zijn hypnotiserende ritmes op traditionele percussie-instrumenten maken de muziek van deze band extreem aanstekelijk.
Samen navigeert Lagon Nwar moeiteloos tussen La Réunion, Burkina Faso, Orléans, Ouagadougou en Parijs – en creëert het een geluid dat nooit eerderte horen was, ergens tussen afro-jazz, maloya, rock-psyché en Europese pop.
21:15 Fuensanta
Fuensanta is ongetwijfeld een van dé opkomende sensaties in de internationale jazzscene. De zangeres en bassiste werd geboren in de Mexicaanse havenstad Veracruz en begon haar muzikale reis op 13-jarige leeftijd. Om zich te vervolmaken als jazzmuzikante ging ze studeren aan het jazzconservatorium van Amsterdam waar ze summa cum laude afstudeerde. In haar muziek viert en bezingt ze de natuur en de cultuur van haar geboorteland Mexico.
Haar gloednieuwe quartet, met Gabriel Milliet, Isa Crespo en Álex Lázaro, brengt vier kleurrijke muzikale soulmates samen, toegewijd aan het creëren van een diepgaand surrealistisch droombeeld. Het roept Mexicaanse en Latijns-Amerikaanse traditionele muziek op, evenals jazz, improvisatie en klassieke muziek, waarbij de oprechtheid van haar stem en teksten alle gebaren, nuances en beslissingen stuurt. Het geluid dat hieruit ontstaat blinkt uit in uniciteit.
22:30 Korhan Futacı
Van zodra Korhan Futacı zijn lippen op het mondstuk van zijn saxofoon zet, begint zijn ritueel. Tijdens zijn concerten neemt deze vooraanstaande figuur uit de Turkse alternatieve muziekscene ons mee, vertrekkend vanuit de broeierige chaos van Istanbul, richting een onbekende klankwereld. Een plek die bruist van leven, maar ook donkerte in zich draagt en waar traditionele Turkse muziek versmelt met vrije improvisatie.
Korhan Futacı stond al op ontelbare podia, waaronder met de freejazzgroep Konstrukt op festivals als Roskilde, Jazzfest Saalfelden en A’larme Festival. Dankzij zijn veelzijdige artistieke expressie werkte hij samen met topmuzikanten uit uiteenlopende genres, waaronder avant-gardepioniers als Peter Brötzmann, Marshall Allen, Thurston Moore, Ken Vandermark en William Parker. We zijn dan ook meer dan blij om hem vandaag tijdens Jazz Brugge een podium te kunnen bieden.
22:30 MESTIZX (Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti & Frank Rosaly
MESTIZX is het krachtige debuutalbum van de in Bolivia geboren performer Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti en de gerenommeerde uit Chicago afkomstige drummer Frank Rosaly.
Het duo, dat nu in Amsterdam woont en zowel muzikaal als persoonlijk een koppel is, duikt diep in hun inheemse wortels in Bolivia, Brazilië en Puerto Rico om een gedurfde muzikale meditatie te creëren over dekolonisatie, identiteit en verzet. MESTIZX vermengt avant-jazz, art punk, bomba, cumbia, ritmes uit het Andes gebied en experimentele elektronica tot een geluid dat even rauw en ritueel is als futuristisch.
Met echo’s van Juana Molina, Tortoise en Elza Soares viert dit project gemengde afkomst en radicale hybriditeit. Tegelijkertijd diep persoonlijk en uitbundig gemeenschappelijk, is MESTIZX protestmuziek waarop je kunt bewegen: zielvol, subversief en volstrekt origineel.
23:30 ESINAM "Shapes in Twilights of Infinity"
De Brusselse muzikante met Ghanese roots Esinam is ongetwijfeld één van de hardest working women in de Belgische muziekscene. Met haar voornaamste instrument - de dwarsfluit - trok ze intussen de hele wereld rond en liet zich inspireren door alle geluiden en invloeden die op haar pad kwamen. In haar meest recente werk graaft ze steeds dieper in de muzikale rijkdom van de Afrikaanse muziektradities. Eerder dit jaar bracht ze nog het internationaal gewaardeerde album “Healing Voices” uit in duo met de Zuid-Afrikaanse percussionist en multi-instrumentalist Sibusile Xaba.
Op Jazz Brugge treedt ze opnieuw solo aan, gewapend met haar dwarsfluit, synths, loopstations en een arsenaal aan percussie-instrumenten. Esinams muziek is bezwerend, harmonieus en zet aan tot dansen. Een gedroomde afsluiter dus voor deze mooi gevulde zaterdagavond op Jazz Brugge.

Bekend van open-format sets bij listening bars van Oostende tot New Dehli, maar met een voorliefde voor Jazz, kon je Clarece' pure Jazz selecties al eerder horen bij 251 Club & Ness Radio's International Jazz Day. Met diepe grooves, polyritmes en spirituele elementen vanuit elk tijdperk & continent neemt Clarece je mee op reis.

19:00 Ola Tunji
Ola Tunji is a relatively young quartet of French conservatory students based in Brussels. Together, they explore the boundaries of spiritual jazz and free jazz, inspired by their heroes like John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, and Albert Ayler. At the forefront is 24-year-old Ornella Noulet, whose saxophone playing can both sear and soothe like that of a seasoned jazz veteran.
They describe their music as collective meditations—improvised expressions of love, compassion, joy, and serenity. In their performances, they search together for a deeper humanity. Late last year, they released their untitled debut digitally on Bandcamp, which quickly gained international attention from outlets like Canada’s One Man’s Jazz, the U.S.-based All About Jazz, and even Bandcamp itself, which featured them as a highlight.
They are currently working on their debut album, scheduled for release in spring 2026 on W.E.R.F. records. At Jazz Brugge, you’ll get a privileged preview of this new material in a live setting.

Since 2008, through all its previous configurations, Brahja has been creating its very special brand of avant-garde, spiritual jazz for slightly over a decade and a half. Though its roots were cultivated out of the NYC & Montreal jazz scenes, its geographical branches reach out further and wider. Founder and personnel leader, saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Devin Brahja Waldman, a staple of the iconic and signature downtown New York jazz scene, incorporated musicians from outside the geography of New York City, to weave together the line-up that would bring his musical vision to fruition. As it crosses the Atlantic for Jazz Brugge, the collective is morphing into a trio featuring Georgia Wartel Collins and Joakim Heibø Johansen, incorporating the flavours of the Nordic jazz scene.

Lagon Nwar is a unique French "ethno jazz" collective that brings together intensity, diversity, and poetic depth. Led by saxophonist Quentin Biardeau and bassist Valentin Ceccaldi—both associated with Le Tricollectif—this quartet invites audiences on a musical journey across cultures.

Fuensanta is undoubtedly one of the rising stars of the international jazz scene. The vocalist and bassist was born in the Mexican port city of Veracruz and began her musical journey at age 13. To further hone her craft, she studied jazz at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, graduating summa cum laude.
In her music, she celebrates and sings of the nature and culture of her native Mexico. Her brand-new quartet—featuring Gabriel Milliet, Isa Crespo, and Álex Lázaro—brings together four vibrant musical soulmates dedicated to creating a surreal dreamscape. Their sound evokes Mexican and Latin American traditions, jazz, improvisation, and classical music, guided entirely by the honesty of Fuensanta’s voice and lyrics. What results is a sound that stands out in its singularity.
22:30 Korhan Futacı
The moment Korhan Futacı puts his lips to the mouthpiece of his saxophone, the ritual begins. A prominent figure in Turkey’s alternative music scene, Futacı takes the audience on a journey from the sweltering chaos of Istanbul into an unknown sonic realm—a world teeming with life, yet laced with darkness, where traditional Turkish music fuses with free improvisation.
Futacı has performed on countless stages, including with his free jazz group Konstrukt at Roskilde, Jazzfest Saalfelden, and A’larme Festival. Thanks to his broad artistic scope, he has collaborated with musicians from across the genre spectrum, including avant-garde legends like Peter Brötzmann, Marshall Allen, Thurston Moore, Ken Vandermark, and William Parker. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the stage at Jazz Brugge.

MESTIZX is the powerful debut album by Bolivia-born performer Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and acclaimed Chicago drummer Frank Rosaly.
Now based in Amsterdam and partners both musically and personally, the duo delves deep into their Indigenous roots in Bolivia, Brazil, and Puerto Rico to create a bold musical meditation on decolonization, identity, and resistance. MESTIZX blends avant-jazz, art punk, bomba, cumbia, Andean rhythms, and experimental electronics into a sound that is as raw and ritualistic as it is futuristic.
With echoes of Juana Molina, Tortoise, and Elza Soares, the project celebrates mixed heritage and radical hybridity. At once deeply personal and vibrantly communal, MESTIZX is protest music you can move to: soulful, subversive, and utterly original.
