First Date #1 - Trixie Whitley & Kayla Farrish

Praktisch

Currently I am most interested in musical dancers and dancing musicians, meaning movers who can use their bodies and voices as extensions of the music and instruments and vice versa. Performers who are open & at ease with bridging the heartestry of music and dance as a life//spiritual practice.” - Trixie Whitley

“Voice, sound, the body in motion and feeling, words, memory, and push to change all excite me! I'm with Trixie on dancers as and with the music, and the music as and with the dance- exchange, becoming one, and all that can happen in between!” - Kayla Farrish

ENG

The 'First Date' has become a staple of DANSAND!. During this event, a dancer and musician are given a short amount of time to get to know each other creatively and must propose a short but sweet improvisation. They engage with each other and the audience in a unique location and specific context. As an outdoor festival, DANSAND! features sun, rain, and wind as equal players in the scene. Improvisation is the perfect way to make the most of these unpredictable moments.

For the first 'First Date' of DANSAND! 2023, we invite Trixie Whitley and Kayla Farrish. Trixie Whitley is currently working on a new album and has plans for her tour to introduce dance as an extension of her music. A first date is her first and perfect chance to test this out.
