Chris Joris speelde ‘wereldjazz’ lang voordat er sprake was van die term en hij tekende voor een paar warmbloedige jazzklassiekers, met Out Of The Night misschien als bekendste voorbeeld. Dat album verscheen oorspronkelijk in 2003, was vervolgens jarenlang niet te verkrijgen, maar ligt in 2023 terug in de schappen en voor het eerst op vinyl. En terecht.
Joris greep het vooruitzicht van een nieuwe tournee en een kersvers album ook gretig aan voor een muzikaal zelfportret. Met Until the Darkness Fades belicht hij verschillende aspecten van zijn muzikale identiteit, zowel verwacht als onverwacht.

Chris Joris played 'world jazz' long before that term was coined and he signed on for some hot-blooded jazz classics, with Out Of The Night perhaps the best-known example. That album was originally released in 2003, was then unavailable for years, but was rereleased in 2023 and available on vinyl for the first time. Joris also eagerly seized the prospect of a new tour and a brand new album for a musical self-portrait. With Until the Darkness Fades, he highlights different aspects of his musical identity, both expected and unexpected.
