James Brandon Lewis is een New Yorkse jazz tenorsaxofonist, componist en bandleader. Zijn muziek combineert de emotionele kracht van gospel en de rauwe groove van blues en R&B met de invloeden van Albert Ayler en John Coltrane, en de expressieve melodische en tonale discipline van Sonny Rollins.
Na zijn debuut Moments in 2010, bracht hij twee albums uit voor Sony Masterworks' OKeh-label: Divine Travels in 2014 en het breed geprezen Days of Freeman het jaar daarop. Tijdens Jazz Brugge 2018 was hij de ontdekking van het festival.
In 2023 bracht hij Eye of I uit op Anti-Records waar hij wereldwijd mee zal touren.
