Bert Cools begint op 7 jarige leeftijd met gitaar. Al zeer snel ontwikkelde hij een interesse in zowel de akoestische als de elektronische kant van muziek. Hij vervolmaakte zijn masteropleiding Jazz gitaar aan het Conservatorium Codarts te Rotterdam, waar hij les volgde bij Hein Van de Gein, Ed Verhoef en Hariprasad Chaurasia. In 2010 behaalde hij de Rotterdamse 'Erasmus jazz prijs'.
Bert richtte samen met zijn broer Stijn Cools het creatief platform 'granvat' op in 2013. Een platform dat zich vooral richt op elektronica, folk, wereldmuziek en improvisatie. granvat kent vele releases en projecten die zowel nationaal als internationaal concerten spelen. Book of air vvolk & Fieldtone, Merope, Hoera., Solo& Indre, AAN/EOP, Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Bert Cools started playing the guitar at 7. He quickly developed an interest in both the acoustic and the electronic side of music. He completed his Master's in Jazz guitar at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where he followed classes by Hein Van de Gein, Ed Verhoef and Hariprasad Chaurasia. In 2010 he won the 'Erasmus Jazz prize' of Rotterdam.
Bert started the creative platform 'granvat' with his brother Stijn Cools in 2013. This platform focusses on electro, folk, world music and improvisation. granvat has had many releases and projects that played nationally and internationally: Book of air vvolk & Fieldtone, Merope, Hoera., Solo& Indre, AAN/EOP, Hariprasad Chaurasia.
