Alexis Pauline Gumbs

Alexis Pauline Gumbs is a queer black feminist love evangelist and an aspirational favorite cousin to all sentient beings.  She is the author of several books, most recently Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals and Dub: Finding Ceremony.  This year Alexis was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship.  She was also awarded the National Humanities Center Fellowship for her work on her forthcoming biography The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde.  Alexis and her partner Sangodare are the co-founders of Mobile Homecoming Trust, a living library amplifying generations of Black LGBTQ Brilliance in Durham, North Carolina.
