Installatie met, voor en over planten
TO THOSE WHO WILL SURVIVE is een performatief onderzoek naar artistieke samenwerking tussen mensen en planten. Niet als decoratie of rekwisiet, maar als bewuste aanwezigheden - als medemakers zeg maar.
Via kunst, wetenschap, spiritualiteit en ecologisch onderzoek zoekt de kunstenaar naar andere manieren om zich te verhouden tot de plantenwereld. Luisteren. Samen creëren. Het proces zelf - met vallen en opstaan, intuïties en ontdekkingen - wordt de voorstelling: een levend dagboek, gedeeld met kunstenaars, biologen, therapeuten, sjamanen en onderzoekers van niet-menselijke kennisvormen.
Binnen dat kader ontstond de Library of Botanical Voices: een geluidsinstallatie en groeiend archief van verbeelde plantengeluiden, omgezet naar muzikale composities. Een oefening in luisteren en samenleven, waar artistieke praktijk en wetenschappelijke kennis elkaar ontmoeten.
De installatie creëert een klankwoud, opgebouwd uit geluiden die lokale mensen en bewoners van deze plek zich verbeeldden bij de planten om hen heen, samen met het publiek en mensen die Benno en Eirik eerder ontmoetten. Is het de klank van hun verbeelding? Of hoorden zij de planten werkelijk?
Vertrekkend van de beschrijvingen van de deelnemers creëert Eirik geluiden die verbonden zijn met de specifieke planten waarnaar zij luisterden. Die geluiden vormen het klankwoud waarin jij je straks onderdompelt.

TO THOSE WHO WILL SURVIVE is a performative investigation into the possibilities of artistic collaboration between humans and plants. The project stems from the desire to challenge the perception of plants as mere scenic or decorative elements, and to instead recognize them as conscious presences and co-creators.
Through a practice intertwining art, science, spirituality, and ecological research, the artist explores alternative ways of relating to the plant world - listening to it and creating together. The process itself - made of attempts,
intuitions, failures, and discoveries - becomes the performance: a living diary shared with other artists, biologists, therapists, shamans, and researchers of non-human forms of knowledge.
Within this framework, the Library of Botanical Voices_Sound Installation was developed:
an archive of imagined plant sounds translated into musical compositions. It continues to evolve as a collective and performative archive, an exercise in listening and coexistence that brings together artistic practices and scientific knowledge.
The site-specific installation creates a forest of plant sounds imagined by locals and with people Benno and Eirik have met before. Is it the sound of the imagination of these people? Or is there the remote possibility that these people really heard the plants?
Starting from the description of the participants Eirik creates sounds related to the specific plants the participants were listening to. These sounds become the sound-forest visitors will immerse themselves.
