Helena Elshout is gefascineerd door de kracht van verhalen en opereert op het snijvlak van theater, literatuur en politiek. Ze is schrijver, theatermaker en cultureel werker. Haar theatertaal zoekt de spanning op tussen het documentaire en het groteske. Moeder worden confronteerde haar met de betekenis van erfenis en erfelijkheid. Hoe gaan we als samenleving om met onze erfenissen, de herhaalde en verzwegen verhalen? Helena werkt aan een drieluik over moederschap en erfenis. In ERF onderzoekt ze koloniale en genetische, in POWDER TO THE PEOPLE financiële en somatische en in STEM queer en artistieke erfenissen. Ze deed toonmomenten en bracht tekstfragmenten op Women & Children First Festival van VIERNULVIER, Chambres d’O i.s.m. laGeste, wipcoop van Mestizo Arts Platform in Campo, BORST van Hyster-x in De Studio en op Par Hasard in Gent.

Helena Elshout is fascinated by the power of stories. Her work lies on the intersection of theatre, literature and politics. She is a writer, theatre director and cultural worker. Her theatre language explores the tension between the documentaristic and the grotesque. Becoming a mother confronted her with the meaning of heritage and heredity. As a society, how do we deal with our heritages, the repeated and the silenced stories? Helena is working on a triptych on motherhood and heritage. She researches colonial and genetic heritages in ERF, financial and somatic heritages in POWDER TO THE PEOPLE and queer & artistic ones in STEM. She has presented this research during several festivals and events: VIERNULVIER's Women & Children First Festival, Chambres d'O in collaboration with laGeste, wipcoop of the Mestizo Arts Platform at Campo, Hyster-x's BORST at De Studio and during Par Hasard in Ghent.
