Tessa Kerre

Tessa Kerre is hematoloog, diensthoofd Hematologie aan het UZ Gent en hoofddocent aan de Universiteit Gent. Naast haar onderzoek naar immunotherapie en bloedkanker zet ze zich in voor een mensgerichte zorgpraktijk waarin ook kunst en cultuur een plaats krijgen. Met haar boek Kunst op voorschrift en diverse initiatieven rond kunst in de zorg onderzoekt ze hoe verbeelding, creativiteit en ontmoeting kunnen bijdragen aan welzijn en herstel. Het brede publiek kent haar onder meer van het programma Topdokters.

Tessa Kerre is a haematologist, head of the Haematology department at Ghent University Hospital and associate professor at Ghent University. Alongside her research into immunotherapy and blood cancer, she is committed to a human-centred approach to care in which art and culture also have a place. With her book Kunst op voorschrift (Art on Prescription) and various initiatives around art in healthcare, she explores how imagination, creativity and encounter can contribute to wellbeing and recovery. The wider public knows her in part from the television programme Topdokters.
