Bert Cools spreekt muziek vanaf zijn kinderjaren met de gitaar als instrument. Hij krijgt de Erasmus Jazz Award voor ‘beste muzikant’ (2010), de Gent jazz award 2016 met Hoera., en de Klara prijs 2019 voor beste world muziek release met Merope Naktes en de Klara prijs 2020 met het quartet Machtelinckx Cools Gouband Badenhorst. Bert is voornamelijk actief in de improvisatie, electronica, folk en wereldmuziek. Naast wereldwijde concerten en componeren voor zijn eigen bands, Merope, Hoera., Book of air vvolk speelt hij regelmatig mee als sideman in internationale bands zoals bv de Deense Efterklang, de Amerikaanse Sam Amidon en de Belgische Zwangere Guy alsook Trixie Whitley.

Stijn Cools begon zijn muzikale parcours als drummer. Tijdens de jeugd jazz stages in Dworp volgde hij workshops bij Billy Hart en Dré Pallemaerts. Alvorens studies te beginnen op het Conservatorium van Brussel bij Stéphane Galland, behaalde hij diploma’s in scenografie en interieurvormgeving. In 2010 was hij laureaat van de "Toots Thielemans Jazz Award". Stijn is meest actief in voornamelijk improvisatie muziek projecten. Naast zijn passie voor drums is hij ook intensief bezig met elektronische muziektoepassingen, en audioproductie.In 2013 richtten de broers Cools het kunstenplatform granvat op. Een 'curator based' entiteit die ver voorbij de klassieke kaders denkt en handelt. granvat presenteert het werk van de gebroeders Cools en dat van andere kunstenaars als een gebundelde collectie. De muziek op granvat wordt beschreven als dromerig en uitdagend.

Bert is primarily active in improvisation, electronics, folk and world music. Alongside worldwide concerts and composing for his own bands — Merope, Hoera., Book of Air and vvolk — he regularly performs as a sideman in international bands such as Danish group Efterklang, American artist Sam Amidon, and Belgian acts Zwangere Guy and Trixie Whitley.

Stijn Cools began his musical journey as a drummer. During the youth jazz workshops in Dworp he studied with Billy Hart and Dré Pallemaerts. Before beginning his studies at the Brussels Conservatory under Stéphane Galland, he obtained degrees in scenography and interior design. In 2010 he was laureate of the Toots Thielemans Jazz Award. Stijn is most active in improvisation music projects. Alongside his passion for drums, he is also intensively engaged in electronic music applications and audio production.
