Emi Kodama & Elias Heuninck

Emi Kodama (1980, Canada) woont sinds 2008 in Gent, toen ze startte met het postgraduaatprogramma aan het Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK). Ze behaalde een MFA aan het Frank Mohr Institute (NL) en een BFA aan het ArtEZ Institute of the Arts (NL). Haar bundel korte verhalen en tekeningen If I Were You werd in 2012 gepubliceerd door MER. Paper Kunsthalle. Via schrijven, performance en installatie verweeft Emi elementen uit het dagelijks leven met dromen en herinneringen om verhalen te creëren die mensen kunnen verkennen en uitbreiden. Ze wil anderen de kans geven om tijd door te brengen in hun innerlijke wereld - om nieuwsgierig te zijn, vragen te stellen en de kracht van hun eigen verbeelding te ontdekken.

Elias Heuninck (1986, België) studeerde mediakunst aan de School of Arts in Gent. Hij raakte geïnteresseerd in het gebruik van het landschapsbeeld voor verschillende experimenten met digitale media. In zijn werken komen verschillende media aan bod, maar ze raken altijd aan het materiaal van de film en de notie van cinema. Door het perspectief in de ruimte, op papier of in een digitaal databestand te veranderen, ontregelt hij het publiek zachtjes.

Emi Kodama (1980, Canada) has been living in Ghent since 2008, when she started the post-graduate program at the Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK). Through writing, performance and installation, Emi weaves elements of daily life together with dreams and memories to create stories that people can explore and expand. She wants to give others the opportunity to spend time in their inner world - to be curious, ask questions and discover the power of their own imagination.

Elias Heuninck (1986, Belgium) studied media art at the School of Arts in Ghent. He became interested in using the landscape image for various experiments with digital media. His works engage with different media, but always touch on the material of film and the notion of cinema. By shifting perspective in space, on paper or in a digital data file, he gently unsettles his audience.
