Demestri & Lefeuvre

Dansers en choreografen Florencia Demestri en Samuel Lefeuvre begonnen de company DEMESTRI & LEFEUVRE in 2012 met als doel samen hybride choreografische werken te ontwikkelen gericht op het buigen van de perceptie van de realiteit van het publiek. Door het gebruik van verstorende verhalen en intense, verdraaide fysieke bewegingen, nodigen zij de toeschouwer uit om toe te geven aan een veelvoudige en intuïtieve interpretatie van de gebeurtenissen, waarbij sensaties boven betekenis worden gesteld. 

Florencia Demestri is een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar uit Argentinië en woont en werkt sinds 2003 in Brussel. Tijdens haar jeugd studeerde ze theater, circus en hedendaagse dans in Argentinië, Brazilië, Cuba en Spanje. In 2006 studeerde ze af aan ESAC met Grand Distinction van de jury. Gepassioneerd door choreografie en optredens, richtte ze zich na school op dansgezelschappen. Ze heeft 15 jaar gewerkt voor choreografen zoals Lisi Estaràs (Les Ballets C. de la B.), David Zambrano, Karine Ponties, Roberto Olivan, Finger Six collective, Groupe Entorse en recentelijk met Monia Montali en François Bodeux. Sinds 2010 is ze naast haar werk als performer ook haar eigen choreografisch onderzoek begonnen en heeft ze samengewerkt met verschillende kunstenaars: Claudio Stellato (The Last Days Project), Piergiorgio Milano (Do you love me?) en Peter Jasko en Simon Thierrée (Spring Quartet).

Na een opleiding in dans in Caen en aan het CNDC in Angers, verhuisde Samuel Lefeuvre naar Brussel in 2001 en werkte hij voor Michèle Anne De Mey en later voor Les Ballets C. de la B. (Wolf van Alain Platel en La Mancha, Patchagonia en Primero/Erscht van Lisi Estaràs). Tijdens de creatie van Wolf ontmoette hij Gabriela Carrizo en Franck Chartier, die hem uitnodigden om zich bij Peeping Tom te voegen voor de creaties Le Salon en Le Sous-Sol. In 2007 richtte hij groupe ENTORSE op met muzikant Raphaëlle Latini, waarmee hij de shows ACCIDENS (Ce qui arrive),  Haute Résilience en Hantologie creëerde. Hij nam deel aan de creatie Cour d'Honneur van Jérôme Bel voor het Avignon Festival 2014 en werkt al enkele jaren samen met Boris Charmatz/TERRAIN (10.000 gestures, 20 Dancers for the 20th Century, La Ruée, La Ronde).

By using disruptive stories and intense, warped physical movements, they invite the visitor to give into an intuïtive interpretation of what's happening before them, where sensations are placed above meaning.

Florencia Demestri is a multidisciplinary artist from Argentina. She has lived and worked in Brussels since 2003.
