Gedreven door de uitgestrekte vlakte van eeuwige vormen van bestaan, probeert Brahim Tall vragen rond identiteit en representatie binnen de publieke, private en mediale ruimte te (her)definiëren. Hoewel hij in Brussel gevestigd is en actief deelneemt aan het diverse sociale leven daar, verkent hij de stad en zijn eigen zelf als kunstenaar en lichaam door te verdwalen. Voor altijd dwalend op de oneindige vlakte, in een voortdurende staat van verandering, gaat hij aan de slag met een nooit eindigende herinterpretatie van zichzelf en zijn kunst in de moderne wereld. Tall zoekt naar definitie door het weigeren van wat bekend is en de acceptatie van ruis.
Brahim Tall is een kunstenaar met een Belgisch-Nederlandse moeder en een Senegalese vader. Hierdoor kwam hij op jonge leeftijd in contact met een waaier aan culturen. In 2017 ging hij fotografie studeren aan LUCA School of Arts, waar hij vragen rond identiteit, zwartheid en mannelijkheid onderzocht. In zijn afstudeerproject Tukuleur (2022) onderzocht hij zijn plaats als persoon met een mixed identity. Ook het nachtleven, als uiting van identiteit, bekleedt een cruciale plaats in zijn praktijk.
Driven by the vast plain of eternal forms of existence, Brahim Tall tries to (re)define questions of identity and representation within the public, private and media space. While based in Brussels and active in its diverse social life, he explores the city and his own self as an artist and body by being lost. Forever wandering on the infinite plain, in a constant state of change, he engages in a never ending reinterpretation of himself and his artistry in the modern world. Tall searches for definition through refusal of what is known and the acceptance of noise.
Brahim Tall is an artist with Belgian-Dutch-Senegalse roots. As a result, he was exposed to a variety of cultures at a young age. In 2017, he studied photography at LUCA School of Arts, where he explored questions of identity, blackness, and masculinity. In his graduation project, Tukuleur (2022), he examined his position as a person with a mixed identity. The nightlife, as an expression of identity, has a central place in his practice.
